In addition to the Official January 2010 NWI Tweetup being held at BW3s in Portage, IN on Wednesday, the 20th, NWITweetup.com has learned that a 2nd Tweetup has been scheduled to take place at Golden Tech‘s famous Boiler Room on the 27th.

The theme of this NWI Tweetup:  Blog Indiana!

What is Blog Indiana?

Blog Indiana is the state’s definitive inbound / internet marketing event, held every August in Indianapolis. Many of Indiana’s premier internet and social media companies, thought leaders, as well as anybody or company who has even has a passing interest in the craft gather together for a few days of seminars, classes, free form discussions, and afterparties.

Keynote speakers at Blog Indiana have included Chris Brogan and Jason Falls. Indiana’s own Douglas Karr (DK New Media), Chris Baggott (Compendium Blogware)  and The Region’s own Steve Dalton and Jonathan Thomas have also spoken at the event.

NWI Tweetup’s January 2010 Blog Indiana Viewing Party

This year, Blog Indiana is taking their act on the road in the months leading up to the much-anticipated convention. The first event will take place on January 27th at SproutBox in Bloomington, IN with keynote speaker Erik Deckers of both Pro Blog Service and the Indiana Department of Tourism’s “Visit Indiana” blog.

The Blog Indiana event will be aired via streaming video at the aforementioned Golden Tech Boiler Room. Since the event is starting earlier than normal (5:15pm) due to the time difference, arrangements are being made for refreshments. At worst, someone will be ordering pizza (UPDATE 2010/01/25:  food will now be sponsored by Bistro 1-5-7, Pikk’s Tavern, and Wagner’s Ribs)

At the end of the Blog Indiana event, there will be time for questions, discussions, and a special announcement regarding NWI Tweetup and Blog Indiana. You’ll want to make sure you’re there to hear it.

Then After the NWI Tweetup

Given those who’ve already shown interest in attending this special NWI Tweetup, rumor has it another #aftertweetup will break out. That’s probably a pretty sound rumor.

A Tweetup in a Boiler Room?

For those concerned that we’re holding a Tweetup in an actual Boiler Room, Golden Tech’s famed “Boiler Room” is a recreational room (presumably) named for their allegiance to Purdue University.

As you can see, the NWITweetup.com website is coming along nicely. Slowly, but nicely. It’s becoming what it was designed to be:  a resource for Nortwest Indiana tweetups, meetups, and networking events.

But it’s missing a little something:  A logo. Not that we want tweetups to be that much more formalized so much as we would like a symbol, a flag, a rallying cry. And something to purdy up on the the sites and social media platforms.

And since the site is supposed to be a reflection of the northwest Indiana online community, we who help keep the site running on a consistent basis think it’s only proper to make sure the community decides how the site should look and feel.

As well as what the logo should be.

So, at the January 2010 tweetup, the team of Dalton, Finn, Sipple & Woodson will be announcing a NWI TWEETUP logo design contest. Details are still a little murky at this time, but all will be cleared up by then.

The Gist of the NWI Tweetup logo:

Contestants will have til the Feburary 2010 Tweetup to submit ideas. Pending on submissions, those ideas will all be put up for display and NWI Tweeps will have until appox. two weeks after the Feb 2010 tweetup to vote for their favorite.

Who Votes on the NWI Tweetup Logo?

Good question. We’ll probably collect email addresses on the Jan & Feb 2010 addresses. Those who sign up will be emailed a ballot. Only those email addresses will be able to vote. This way, we keep it to the active in the community and prevent ballot stuffing.

What if you can’t make either tweetup but are still active?

Leave us a comment on NWITweetup.com requesting a ballot.

When is the January 2010 Tweetup:

Rumor has it the January 2010 NWI Tweetup will be on January 20th at BW3′s in Portage, IN, but that has to be confirmed by the Daver. Tweet him about it and ask.

Second January 2010 Tweetup Spoiler?

Dave Woodson’s January 2010 NWI Tweetup is not to be confused with the potential second tweetup that could be finalized soon. The date of that one will be January 27th…more to come on that one!

And, oh yeah, they’ll both be very much worth it!
